ESSENTIAL DO’S & DON’TS OF ACNE

DO’s

  • DO ALWAYS BE GENTLE IN CLEANSING YOUR SKIN AS BEING ROUGH CAN BURST THE INFECTED ACNE BREAKOUT’S.
  • DO ALWAYS USE SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT ARE FORMULATED FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN (For eg products having salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide) AND ALSO SPECIFICALLY CATER TO YOUR SKIN TYPE/NEEDS.
  • DO ALWAYS GO IN FOR PRODUCTS THAT ARE FRAGRANCE-FREE AND NON-COMEDOGENIC.
  • DO ALWAYS USE ONLY THOSE SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN TOXIC/ HARMFUL INGREDIENTS IN THEM AND ARE SAFE FOR USE ON HUMAN SKIN.
  • DO ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HAIR CLEAN AND AWAY FROM YOUR FACE. (Dirt and oil from your hair can get transferred to your skin pores which can in turn lead to acne.)
  • DO ALWAYS TRY TO AVOID EXCESSIVE SUN EXPOSURE. (Acne treatments can cause the top layer of your skin to become sensitive or thin and hence increasing the skin’s sensitivity towards sun.)
  • DO ALWAYS CONSULT A DERMATOLOGIST FOR ACNE. FOR CORRECT MEDICATION AND TIMELY TREATMENT IS THE KEY IN COMBATING ACNE. (There are different forms of acne and every form requires different medication/ treatment.)
  • DO ALWAYS EAT A BALANCED DIET. CONSUME FIBER RICH FOOD AND ACNE-FIGHTING VITAMINS (Namely VIT A, C, E) ZINC SUPPLEMENTS ALSO HELP FIGHT ACNE.
  • DO ALWAYS USE PREFERABLY DISPOSABLE RAZORS OR SINGLE BLADE RAZORS FOR SHAVING.
  • DO ALWAYS USE DISPOSABLE MATERIAL FOR ALL YOUR BEAUTY PROCEDURES BE IT AT HOME OR AT BEAUTY PARLOURS.
  • DO ALWAYS TRY TO LIMIT YOURSELF TO MINIMAL MAKEUP.

 

 

 

DON’Ts

  • DON’T PICK, POP, SQUEEZE OR MESS WITH YOUR SKIN IT CAN FURTHER WORSEN YOUR SITUATION.
  • DON’T WASH YOUR FACE MORE THAT TWICE A DAY AS OVERZEALOUS WASHING LEADS TO OIL REBOUND. If your work involves hours under the sun or in front of heat and it is inevitable for you to wash your face more than twice; then use cleansing milk or cleansing wipes instead of face wash or soap. 
  • DON’T RUB OR SCRATCH ACNE AFFECTED AREA.
  • DON’T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR SKIN AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. Proper cleansing is important to remove excess oil, dead skin cells, dirt, sweat from the skin pores so that they do not clog the pores leading to acne. When sweat sits on the surface of skin, it’s the perfect place for dirt and other debris to cling before clogging pores. Humid conditions and exercise that increase sweating can increase the occurrence of acne. (Note this does not imply that you wash your skin too often.)
  • DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE VERY OFTEN; AS YOUR HANDS CARRY UNSEEN BACTERIA.
  • DON’T EXFOLIATE TOO OFTEN.
  • DON’T GET INTO A TENDENCY OF ‘Try every Topical Medication Available’. STICK TO THE REGIME SUGGESTED BY YOUR DERMATOLOGIST. (For skin takes about 3-4 weeks to show any results/ signs of improvement.)
  • DON’T FORGET TO TAKE BATH AFTER EXERCISING.
  • DON’T GET A FACIAL DONE REGULARLY. RESTRICT TO ONCE IN 2 MONTHS.
  • DON’T FORGET TO REMOVE ALL YOUR MAKEUP BEFORE GOING TO BED.
  • DON’T FORGET TO REPLACE YOUR MAKE-UP SPONGES/ BRUSHES REGULARLY.
  • DON’T FORGET TO WASH YOUR PILLOWCASE AND TOWELS REGULARLY. (It will be best if you could sanitize your face towels and sponges.)
  • DON’T FORGET TO CLEAN YOUR MOBILE PHONES REGULARLY WITH A HAND SANITIZER.
  • DON’T FORGET TO GET AT LEAST 6 HRS OF SLEEP DAILY.
