All about Normal Skin

(Scroll below to view complete page)

Normal skin is firm with good muscle tone, appropriate skin hydration, elasticity and skin barrier functions. It is soft, smooth and has an even skin tone along with a healthy glow. This type of skin is rather unfortunately rare. But this does not mean you can ignore basic skincare regime. Correct skincare is as crucial as any other skin type. Therefore, proper hygiene, pampering and protecting your skin is equally important to maintain this skin type.

  1. Skin type does not remain static; it can alter with time depending upon a number of external & internal factors.
  2. Factors that can harm/ disrupt the normal balance of your skin are: extreme weather changes, heat, dust, pollution, excessive sun exposure, stress, lack of fresh air, dehydration, artificial heating or cooling devices, poor hygiene, lack of sound sleep, hormonal imbalance, insufficient water intake and diet lacking essential vitamins. Another factor which is extremely important but is usually overlooked is; choosing skincare products. Therefore always-
    • Use skincare products that are formulated specifically for your skin type.
    • Look for skin pH friendly skincare products.
    • Try to use only those skincare products that do not contain toxic/ harmful ingredients in them & are safe for application on human skin.
  3. Avoid changing your skincare regime frequently.(Skin takes about 3-4 weeks to show any results/ signs of improvement.)
  4. Always consult a dermatologist; without any delay; if you are suffering from any skin problem. (Most of the skin issues can be prevented from spreading/ increasing if timely treatment is taken.)

  • Use face wash or cleansers that are skin pH friendly so that they do not disrupt your healthy skin barrier layer.
  • Cleanse your face twice a day; using a mild to moderate face wash.
  • Deep cleansing should be done once a month.

  • Opt for non-abrasive & soft textured scrubbing agents. Harsh gritty scrubbing agents scratch our healthy skin layers; which is usually not visible to the eye.

  • Deep moisturize using a light weight cream once a day preferably at night just before going to bed. The cream should have adequate amounts of skin replenishing ingredients because during the night your cream’s ingredients get absorbed more efficiently inside your skin; as you are not exposed to sun/dust/pollution. In winters opt for a heavy night cream.

Step-4: PROTECTING (Sunscreen)

  • Sun protection is paramount for every skin type.

Step-5: PAMPERING (Face packs/masks)

  • Normal skin people must pamper their skin with a moisturizing & rejuvenating face mask twice a month.

IF YOU have any skin concerns like (uneven skin tone, acne, post acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, dullness, stubborn blackheads, hyperpigmentation, dark circles, enlarged pores, complexion enhancement, dark spots, sun spots,  rosacea, melasma, skin allergies etc) then in addition to your daily regime you will require TARGETED TREATMENT regime which is specific for your skin concern but at the same time is also mild on your skin (eg milder forms of retinoids/pigment reducing ingredients etc).
