SUN PROTECTION (SUNSCREEN)

   DO’s

  • DO ALWAYS APPLY NO LESS THAN SPF 15 AND NO MORE THAN SPF 50; IF YOU ARE RESIDING IN THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT.
    DO ALWAYS GO IN FOR A SUNSCREEN WHICH OFFERS BROAD SPECTRUM PROTECTION FROM BOTH UVA AND UVB RAYS.
    DO ALWAYS MASSAGE THE SUNSCREEN FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE SO THAT IT EVENS OUT ON THE SKIN.
    DO ALWAYS APPLY SUNSCREEN 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE GOING OUT IN THE SUN.
    DO ALWAYS APPLY SUNSCREEN GENEROUSLY. TO GET EFFECTIVE PROTECTION FROM SUNRAYS THE SUNSCREEN SHOULD HAVE AN EVEN LAYER ALL OVER.
    DO ALWAYS USE SUNSCREEN THAT CATER TO YOUR SPECIFIC SKINCARE CONCERNS. (Also only choose those skincare products which do not contain toxic/ harmful ingredients in them and are safe for use on human skin.)
    DO ALWAYS RE-APPLY SUNSCREEN EVERY 2-3 HOURS (Or more frequently if washed/ rubbed/ washed off with sweat) TO MAINTAIN THE EXPECTED LEVEL OF PROTECTION.
    DO ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU CLEANSE/WASH OFF YOUR SUNSCREEN AT THE END OF THE DAY OR BEFORE GOING TO BED.

DON’Ts

  • DON’T FORGET TO PERFORM A PATCH TEST (Every time you purchase/ apply a new sunscreen) BEFORE APPLYING IT ON YOUR FACE.
  • DON’T USE EXPIRED SUNSCREENS. IDEALLY SUNSCREENS SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 2.5 YEARS.
  • DON’T USE SPRAY SUNSCREENS. INSTEAD OPT FOR SUNSCREEN LOTIONS/ CREAMS. (Spray sunscreens do not cover the skin surface efficiently and can also be toxic if inhaled).
  • DON’T RUB YOUR EYES WHILE APPLYING SUNSCREEN; YOU MIGHT END UP WITH A RED STINGING EYE.
  • DON’T FORGET TO PROTECT YOUR LIPS. USE A LIP BALM/ LIPSTICK HAVING SPF.
  • DON’T FORGET TO APPLY ON AREAS SUCH AS THE EARS, UNDER THE CHIN, NECK, BACK OF HANDS, EXPOSED AREAS OF YOUR LEGS & FEET.
  • DON’T FORGET TO PROTECT YOUR FACE & HAIR WITH SUNGLASSES AND HATS.
  • DON’T BE FOOLED BY WATER RESISTANT/ PROOF SUNSCREENS. THEY SHOULD ALSO BE REAPPLIED IF YOU GET WET IN RAINS OR AFTER SWIMMING.
